Safety Specialist

Arctic a reefer trucking company, is seeking a Safety & Safety Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in safety management and claims handling within the trucking industry.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain safety programs in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Organize safety training and monitor safety metrics.
• IFTA, NY, OR
• Manage insurance claims, including documentation and follow-ups.
• Investigate accidents, provide reports, and liaise with insurance and legal teams.
• Ensure company compliance with federal and state safety regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety through collaboration with drivers, management, and HR.
• Responds to accidents, near-misses, cargo temperature excursions, and safety incidents; secures scene information and evidence.
• Leads root-cause investigations using structured methods (e.g., 5 Whys, RCA, or Fishbone) and interviews drivers, witnesses, and maintenance personnel.
• Collects and analyzes data: vehicle damage, DVIRs, ELD logs, telematics, dashcam footage, maintenance history, refrigeration unit logs, load manifests, and weather/road conditions.
• Prepares incident reports for internal review and external filings (DOT, insurance carriers, customers) and ensures timely submission.
• Develops and oversees corrective action plans: non-conformance tracking, assigning ownership, deadlines, verification of completion, and effectiveness checks.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 16:00 - 01.00

Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in safety management and claims handling in the trucking industry.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Safety certification is a plus.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
