World AIDS Campaign Announces Recruitment of In-Country Support Officer

The World AIDS Campaign is a global coalition of national, regional and international civil society groups united by the call for governments to honour their AIDS commitments under the slogan “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise.” The campaign is governed by a steering committee of global constituency-based networks and supported by a team of support staff based primarily in Cape Town, South Africa and partially in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

World AIDS Campaign announces recruitment of in-country support officer to support development and implementation of World AIDS Campaign activities in the Republic of Moldova. The in-country officer will work closely with the World AIDS Campaign Global Programme Officer, based in Cape Town, South Africa.

The responsibilities of the officer will be to maximize the WAC in-country programme through:
• organizing events;
• maintaining networks, mailing lists;
• convening meetings;
• providing campaign skills-based training, or liaising to ensure that such training is provided;
• seeking and providing information to the Global Programme on relevant national and regional developments ;
• liaising with key partner and other organizations in the in-country campaign platform, working to ensure that it becomes and remains inclusive of a wide diversity of agencies and interests;
• working with the Line manager to identify and liaise with potential regional/national funders;
• supporting campaigners and the relevant aspects of in-country partner organizations as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• Degree in Public Relations, Social Sciences, Communication or other relevant fields;
• An understanding of the impact of HIV on communities and their response to it;
• An understanding of how to achieve change in Moldova;
• Experience of working in a position of authority in a civil society organization and of working in a campaign;
• An ability to work independently, to take initiatives and to be accountable over a long geographical distance;
• Fluency in Romanian, Russian and English.
