WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
SALARY: *AEFM/EFM/MOH/NOR: (Position Grade: FP-7 to be confirmed by Washington)
*Ordinarily Resident: Position Grade - FSN-7
LENGHT OF HIRE: Temporary – The appointment is for maximum 4 to 6 months.

NOTE: ALL NON-MOLDOVAN RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS ALLOWING EMPLOYMENT IN MOLDOVA TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Travel Assistant makes all reservations for official travel, confirms and changes tickets, assists VIP and officers to and from post at the airport, and tracks lost luggage. Serves as the main liaison between the travel service provider and the customer. The Travel Assistant negotiates yearly contracts with local hotels, performs all hotel reservations for official visitors, and coordinates the Arrival/Departure list, which is used by Post Management, the local guard force and drivers. Drafts country clearances and maintains files on travel and hotel usage.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1. University degree in Tourism, Economics, Management or International Relations is required.
2. Minimum two years of experience in the travel or tourism field is required.
3. Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading English is required. This will be tested. Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading Romanian and Russian is required. (Please indicate in the Application form/resume the level of knowledge of all three languages)
4. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of Standardized Regulations and of applicable agency ancillary instructions. Knowledge of all local airline practices and routes is also required.
5. Must have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with ticket office personnel, host country and American officials. Ability to counsel employees and visitors on various travel matters is required.


SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that all candidates address the required qualifications above in the application.

The Embassy will give all applicants full consideration. Applicants should be aware that having a close relative working at the Embassy in any capacity that could create a conflict of interest would be considered a disqualifying factor.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and visa status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees of the extended Mission serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed Not-Ordinarily Residents (NOR) hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
