Senior\middle QA engineer

Responsibilities:
The candidates will be responsible for test execution, test analysis and test case construction. The project follow and agile, sprint based release cycle, as such a significant amount of the candidates time will be spent in simultaneous test analysis, test design and test execution - an exploratory testing background would be highly advantageous.

For regression testing our environment is such that we currently only have high level test cases - we do not expect to have highly detailed test cases in the near future. The testers will be expected to create key regression tests as they go - this could be due to user feedback, specific technical risk, perceived risk or similar.

For new functionality we work from Jira tickets as developers mark them complete. The candidates would be expected to be able to take Jiras and extrapolate test cases from these, discussing with other team members (testers, developers and senior project staff), as necessary. The candidates need to be comfortable in holding these discussions on an ad hoc basis, and in escalating issues when they feel they are not getting the information they need, or when they are unsure of the scope of a change. Similar to the above - testers need to be able to highlight when they think a more formal test case is required.

The candidates will also be responsible for discussing issues with developers, testers or other project members, as appropriate. The candidate will then be expected to raise issues in the bug tracking system - theses should be well documented, and where possible should give a process to recreate issues, an outline of consequences of the issue, and the expected behaviour. Candidates should have very good communication skills to be able to do this.

The candidates will also be expected to be able to carry out at least limited trouble shooting and reprioritisation - if there are system issues while relevant contacts are unavailable then the candidates would be expected to either try identifying issues, potentially fixing (for intermittent environment issues, for example), and making a decision to work on other parts of the system if necessary.

Skills
Required
• Strong testing experience in an agile project or in an exploratory testing environment
• Good communication
• Experience of using Quality Center, or similar test management tools
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Experience of working with remote development teams

Advantageous
As many of the following as possible would be highly advantageous:
• Equity Derivatives basic understanding (what an option is, what the greeks are)
• Pricing business knowledge
• Strong Excel skills, especially around exporting large data sets, and creating simple reconciliation tools for checking such
• Experience of using Jira
• Any test automation experience may prove useful, especially with either of Visual Studio CodedGUITests or Quick Test Professional. Although automation skills would be advantageous the role is primarily manual testing
• Confidence in navigating Linux systems via a SSH session, and comfort in starting and stopping services in this type of environment
