Senior AWS BI Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS BI Engineer to own the design, development, and execution of our business intelligence and reporting ecosystem. You will be instrumental in transforming raw operational data into scalable analytics models and insightful dashboards used by executive leadership, product, finance, and customer-facing teams.

This role requires deep experience with AWS analytics services, ETL/ELT design, Redshift-based data warehousing, and Amazon QuickSight dashboard development. You will lead end-to-end BI development, from ingest and pipeline orchestration to semantic modeling and visualization.

Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and optimize AWS-based data warehouse and reporting environments
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS native tools (Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, Athena, S3, Redshift, RDS)
Develop QuickSight dashboards, reports, KPI visualizations, and embedded analytics
Define data models, dimensional structures, partitioning strategies, and query performance tuning
Implement data refresh automation, incremental loads, CDC (Change Data Capture), and pipeline observability
Partner with engineering, finance, and product teams to translate business questions into analytics solutions
Own data governance standards for accuracy, data lineage, validation, and documentation
Conduct root-cause analysis, optimize query execution, and reduce compute/storage cost
Mentor engineers in BI best practices and scalable warehouse patterns

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years in Business Intelligence engineering
Expert-level proficiency with AWS Analytics stack including:
Redshift / Redshift Spectrum, Glue ETL, Athena, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch
3+ years building production QuickSight dashboards, analyses, calculated fields, and SPICE models
Strong ETL/ELT development background — Python, PySpark, SQL, or Glue Jobs
Expertise in data warehouse modeling (Kimball, Data Vault, Star/Snowflake schemas)
Advanced SQL performance tuning, workload optimization, and columnar storage understanding
Experience with automation frameworks (IaC/Terraform/CloudFormation preferred)
Strong understanding of data security, PII protection, IAM roles/policies, and compliance-first design

Preferred
Experience with CDC replication tools — Fivetran, DMS, Debezium, Airflow
Familiarity with event-driven pipelines using Kinesis/MSK/Kafka
Background integrating BI with SaaS systems (Salesforce, payment systems, CRM platforms)
QuickSight embedded analytics or multi-tenant dataset architecture experience

What Success Looks Like
Within 90 days you will have:
built new QuickSight dashboards for business KPIs
stabilized/optimized existing ETL pipelines and schemas
delivered scalable data models supporting future analytics growth
