LOCAL CONSULTANT IN DEMOCRACY BUILDING
MOLDOVA

The EPD (non-for-profit organization based in Brussels) will have an exploratory trip to Moldova on 2-7 February 2009, in result of which it will prepare a country report on the state of demcoracy, democray assistance, civil society and mass media in the country, with recommendations of possible activities for the EPD to promote democracy in Moldova.

The EPD is looking for a person based in Moldova to assist it in organizing the above trip and to perform the following tasks:

- preparing a list of key stakeholders and donors in the field of democracy building in Moldova, (in cooperation with the EPD);
- making initial contact with persons from the list, approved by EPD (IOs, NGOs, state officials) by the 16 January 2009 and setting meetings with them;
- arranging an agenda for the trip in the most efficient way;
- confirming (during the week of 19-23 January) with our counterparts the meetings and informing us about the final agenda (the latest on the 26th January);
- arranging the transportation and meals in most efficient way (i.e. close to the places of immediate meetings and in trustworthy venues). We will take care of hotel bookings ourselves.
- accompanying us full-time during our trip and providing interpretation assistance (if necessary);
- taking notes and contributing into preparing the final report.

Qualification requirements:
- a university degree in Political Science, Law, International Relations or related fields;
- experience working with NGOs;
- experience working with political parties;
- familiarity with the work of government and the legislature in Moldova;
- fluent English, Romanian and Russian;
- previous experience working with international donors would be a plus;
- strong organizational skills;
- ability to work on your own;
- daily access to the Internet
