The Strengthening Civil Society Capacity in Moldova (SCSMCM) Program, which is funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), managed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Academy for Educational Development (AED), is recruiting a Grants Assistant. The Program seeks to strengthen the monitoring capacity of civil society and mass media to help prevent and deter corruption and runs through March, 2009.
Tasks and responsibilities:
# Cooperate closely and maintain clear communication with the Grants/Coordination Manager and Advocacy/ Monitoring Manager.
# Assist in performing pre-award activities for grant recipients including administering the Management questionnaire.
# Work with Finance Manager on a financial monitoring plan for grantees and grant awarding procedures.
# Handle logistics for planning workshops/one-on-one TA sessions on grant procedures.
# Assist Grants Manager in training grantees on USAID/AED requirements and reporting procedures.
# Conduct initial review grantees financial and programmatic reports.
# Conduct field visits of grantees as required and determined.
# Track outstanding grants and prepare appropriate reports.
# Monitor purchases of equipment by the grantees and subcontractors and maintain an equipment inventory list for grantees.
# Maintain a financial database of grantees.
# Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and skills required:
# Bachelor’s degree
# 2-3 years of relevant experience
# Experience in working on USAID-funded projects
# Experience in managing conferences and professional events
# Fluency in English
