Dispatcher (nights / weekends - hybrid on saturdays)

NIGHT/WEEKEND DISPATCH – FULL TIME – HOURLY WITH OVERTIME

The Dispatcher arranges, schedules and dispatches a fleet of refrigerated tractor-trailer and straight truck drivers across the eastern half of the US assuring on-time safe departure from shipping points and maintaining timely safe travel to all destinations leading to successful on-time unloading when completed.

In this role you are the center of communication. You solve and report any/all issues that arise during your shift. You receive written and verbal turnover from previous shift and follow-through on necessary actions to complete directives. You also document and communicate a verbal turnover to the next shift for their follow-through on all needed actions.

50 hour scheduled work week (40 hours regular + 10 hours scheduled overtime).
Work week is planned as Tuesday afternoon/evening through Saturday overnight with shifts ranging from 9 to 12 hours totaling 50 hours per week.
Saturday night shift will be remote with the ability to “work from home” after all training has been completed. Typically, this will be after about 2 to 3 months on the job. During training, the 5 day shift will not include a remote option.
Remain flexible for other available shifts with the potential advancement through the ranks of Pipco Transportation to positions with additional skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Review status of every driver in our fleet and all carriers Pipco is currently using outside our company to haul freight for our sister company, F&S Fresh Foods.
-Manage and report all driver/load activity to ensure timely arrival and departure at all stops.
-Identify problem areas early and handle resolution of all issues in real time per our companies specifications.
-Proactively monitor and manage all situations that occur to minimize and eliminate problems and to maximize the success of each and every load with Pipco.
-Maintain an open-mind and work to the best outcome for Pipco, our staff, our drivers, and our customers.
-Seek additional guidance whenever a situation is unable to be resolved by your efforts alone.
-Take on additional responsibilities as they are brought into the Pipco system and remain open to changes and modifications to current practices with the purpose of improving the overall systems.

Requirements:
-Must be able to multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting, events happening at the same time.
-Must be able to handle steady inbound flow of phone calls and email messages while managing through issues that arise in a timely, practical, and efficient manner.
-Ability to clearly and accurately relay information in a fast-paced environment.
-Ability to maintain composure and project a positive attitude at all times.
-Possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition. Effectively listen, understand and execute on instructions.
-Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook for scheduling and other dispatching duties.
