Data visualization developer

Currently, Novateca collects information from a number of data sources such as online monthly reports, online pop-up surveys and the national statistics. Data Visualization Developer will create a web-based application that will allow librarians, stakeholders and public to access and visualize data in an interactive form. The qualified candidate will contribute to the design of user interface, developing controls, and other visual elements. The applicant will report to the Impact Manager and will work closely with the IT department to get a better understanding of existing IT infrastructure.

Description of Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement an interactive, dynamic, and a user-friendly visualization application based on the requirements established by Novateca
• Provide recommendations and contribute to the design of user interface, interactive controls, data structure and other visual elements.
• Work across the teams to support the creation of application.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of web development practices, standards and design patterns: JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX , HTML, XML,CSS, etc.
• Knowledge of back-end tools such as PHP and MySQL.
• Experience with interactive JavaScript libraries e.g. Highcharts, D3, Chart.js, Vega, or similar framework will be considered an advantage. Experience with mapping libraries is desirable.
• Portfolio and previous experience will be considered an advantage
• Ability to work with third-party developed code
• Fluency (written and oral) in Romanian, Russian and English preferred, but not mandatory
