Assistant Security Investigator

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent serves as assistant investigator in the Security section, responsible for performing security background investigations and other special investigations. Occasionally will serve as liaison with local police and other host nation officials.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants are instructed to address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
College education is required.
Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in investigative work with police, military, private sector, or a USG organization.
Level 3 (good working knowledge) English and level 4 (fluent) Romanian and Russian required. (Please indicate in the Application form/resume the level of knowledge of all three languages)
Good knowledge of local information sources (documents, archives, officials, etc.) is required, as is familiarity with local laws pertaining to marriage, divorce, property, adoption, military service, etc.
Incumbent must be able to deal professionally, effectively and courteously with all levels of the public. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications is required.
Driver’s license is required.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that all candidates address the required qualifications above in the application.
The Embassy will give all applicants full consideration. Applicants should be aware that having a close relative working at the Embassy in any capacity that could create a conflict of interest would be considered a disqualifying factor.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and visa status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees of the extended Mission serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed Not-Ordinarily Residents (NOR) hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
