The Role
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take the lead on our data infrastructure. You'll be responsible for the entire data lifecycle, from building and maintaining our data pipelines to ensuring our data is reliable and ready for analysis. While your main focus will be on the core data engineering tasks, you'll also have the chance to explore how we can use AI and machine learning to improve our services and guide our team in this exciting new area.

What You'll Do

Build and manage our data pipelines using Python and AWS, making sure they are scalable and reliable.
Work with data from various sources like APIs, SFTP, and databases (RDBMS).
Develop data models that will be used for analytics and machine learning.
Ensure our data is clean, accurate, and secure.
Work with our analysts, engineers, and product managers to understand their data needs.
Keep our data systems running smoothly and troubleshoot any issues that come up.
Explore new AI and machine learning technologies and help our team learn how to use them.

What We're Looking For

A strong foundation in data engineering, with at least 5 years of professional experience.
Deep expertise in Python and its data-focused libraries (pandas, pydantic, boto3, awswrangler, requests, PySpark).
Hands-on experience with core AWS services, especially Glue, Athena, S3, and Lambda.
Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases (like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB).
A solid understanding of data formats like Parquet, Apache Iceberg, CSV, and XLS.
You know your way around ETL/ELT processes and data modeling concepts like Star Schema.
You have a good grasp of machine learning concepts and have experience deploying models into a production environment.
You're a strong communicator who can explain complex technical ideas to people with different backgrounds.

It would be a plus if you have:

Experience in the travel industry.
Familiarity with Salesforce and SOQL.
Experience with API development using FastAPI or OpenAPI.
Knowledge of Airflow or AWS Managed Flows.
An understanding of MLOps, Apache Hudi, or data visualization tools like AWS Quicksight.
Relevant certifications from AWS, Databricks, or Snowflake.
