POSITION: Temporary Visa Clerk, FSN-5*; FP-9*

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

SALARY: *AEFM/EFM/MOH/NOR: (Position Grade: FP-9 to be confirmed by Washington)

*Ordinarily Resident: Position Grade - FSN-5

LENGTH OF HIRE: Temporary – The appointment is for maximum 4 to 6 months.

NOTE: ALL NON-MOLDOVAN RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS ALLOWING EMPLOYMENT IN MOLDOVA TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, Moldova is seeking an individual for temporary employment as Visa Clerk.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

During Summer Work and Travel program (SWT) season, assists in all aspects of nonimmigrant visa (NIV) processing, administering the NIV appointment system, provides translation for NIV interviews and performs a variety of other clerical tasks and backs up other consular staff as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1. College education is required.

2. Minimum six months of administrative/office clerical experience is required.

3. Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading English is required. This will be tested. Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading Romanian and Russian is required. (Please indicate in the Application form/resume the level of knowledge of all three languages)

4. The incumbent is expected to have a basic knowledge of host country immigration policies, and must become familiar with U.S. immigration policies.

5. Good knowledge of MS Office Applications is required. The incumbent is expected to deal with public courteously under stressful circumstances, and needs to be able to work under pressure.

SELECTION PROCESS

When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that all candidates address the required qualifications above in the application.

The Embassy will give all applicants full consideration. Applicants should be aware that having a close relative working at the Embassy in any capacity that could create a conflict of interest would be considered a disqualifying factor.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and visa status in determining successful candidacy.

2. Current employees of the extended Mission serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.

4. Currently employed Not-Ordinarily Residents (NOR) hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
