Senior Java Developer

One of the world’s top investment banks is opening a position of a Senior Java Developer. The successful candidate will work as a senior developer on a volatility management, pricing and quoting system. This team focuses on leveraging and enhancing the existing trading platform for the flow desks, which includes market making, quoting and sales for securitised and structured products.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, document, and maintain modules of a existing system, for which she/he takes ownership of. Participate in code reviews and design sessions for other parts of system. Communicate with business and the rest of the team on daily basis to understand business and technical requirements to the product being developed.
Technical Skills required
Java: The candidate should have a solid background in Java SE and EE. Hands-on experience with ORM persistence libraries -- preferably Hibernate. Advanced knowledge of memory management concepts is needed. The candidate should have a good command of multi-threading and performance tuning. Deep understanding of EE base patterns and their implementation both in container and in standard Java is needed. Experience with IoC containers such as Spring, PicoContainer is a plus.
Teamwork: Understanding of base principles of team work and experience in one of mainstream development methodologies is needed. Experience in working in ISO9000/CMMi certified company is a plus but not required.
Architecture/Design: The candidate should keep up with current trends in area of enterprise technologies. The candidate should be able to effectively address non-functional requirements within given technology constraints. Working knowledge and experience on using UML to communicate architectural and design decisions is required.
Unix: Knowledge of Unix shell as an advanced user is needed. Understanding of basic concepts of Unix-like operating systems is a plus. Experience in tuning and administering Linux is a plus.
Soft Skills required
Responsibility & Maturity: The candidate should have an ability to take an ownership on the assigned area. She/he should show the commitment to the results. Finisher. She/he should have an ability to mentor and coach more junior team members.
Stress-resistance: The candidate must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment, sometimes under tight deadlines. She/he should show an ability to maintain a high level of technical solution in an unfavorable environment.
Communication: The candidate should be able to communicate her/his ideas to the team and adequately receive feedback. She/he should be able to build network of co-workers both in the team and among the business users to get better understanding on the work issues. The candidate should have an ability to deliver both positive and negative messages to the team members and business users.
Language Skills: Candidate must be able to communicate in English fluently, both on technical and conversational level. Knowledge of German language is a plus
Work conditions
This assignment requires a permanent move to London, UK. The candidate will be working in the Bank’s office with her/his team members who will be both Bank’s and Luxoft employees, in an exciting, fast paced working environment, and a culture of mutual respect and teamwork.
The company provides the work permit in the UK. After a year spent on-site, the candidate will have an option either to stay in London, or join an off-shore part of the development team in a senior technical or managerial role.
