Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to build our test automation platform from scratch using Playwright and mentor our small but growing QA team. You'll work closely with our current automation engineer and help guide a manual tester's transition into automation. This is an excellent opportunity to establish modern testing foundations and implement cutting-edge automation practices in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Implementation
Build a comprehensive test automation platform from scratch using Playwright and TypeScript
Design and implement robust, scalable test automation frameworks and architecture
Establish best practices and coding standards for modern test automation
Design and optimize CI/CD integration for automated testing pipelines
Implement advanced testing approaches including visual regression, self-healing tests, and intelligent test maintenance

Strategic Innovation

Develop advanced testing patterns including visual regression, accessibility, performance, and API testing
Research and implement modern testing technologies and methodologies
Create intelligent test maintenance and automated reporting capabilities
Establish comprehensive testing strategies that leverage cutting-edge tools
Explore AI-powered testing enhancements where applicable

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise
4+ years of experience in test automation engineering
Expert-level proficiency in Playwright framework with TypeScript
Strong background in modern JavaScript/TypeScript development
Experience with test automation framework design and architecture
Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.)
Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms

Collaboration & Mentoring

3+ years of experience mentoring colleagues or sharing technical knowledge
Strong communication skills and patience for knowledge transfer
Experience working in small, collaborative teams
Ability to guide both experienced and transitioning team members

Additional Skills (Highly Valued)

Experience with visual regression testing and screenshot comparison tools
Knowledge of API testing automation and contract testing
Performance and load testing expertise
Mobile testing automation experience
Security testing automation knowledge
Familiarity with test data management and synthetic data generation
Experience with AI-enhanced testing tools (a plus)
-Understanding of modern web technologies, microservices, and cloud architectures
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes
