Proofreader

A local company invites applications for the Proofreader positions to perform proofreading of the technical and related-fields written translations from English to Romanian.

Job Title: PROOFREADER

Nature of the Job and main tasks:
Proofread the technical texts translated from English to Romanian (technical instructions and norms) in the established timeframe by ensuring the required quality standards.
Consult translators upon their request within the scope of Proofreader’s duties.

Education/Experience Required:
Degree in foreign languages (English-Romanian)
Experience in proofreading translations form English intro Romanian (minimum 1 year)

Knowledge/Skills Required:
Proficiency in English and Romanian.
Profound knowledge of the rules of the Romanian linguistic system (lexis, phraseology, syntax, spelling, punctuation, grammar)
Attention to detail and inaccuracies (ability to spot the mistakes, inaccurate terminology, bad wording or inappropriate style)
Writing skills (communicating effectively in writing)
Ability to work under pressure with short deadlines.
Computer literacy: Internet Explorer, MS Word Proficiency, Instant Messenger.
Good typing skills.
Ability to work in a team.
Strongly committed to the established requirements and deadlines.

Specific requirements:
Job location – home or any other agreed place.
Necessary equipment – computer, permanent Internet access (preferably via ADSL).
Capacity to proofread minimum 12 pages per day.

Time Frame:
July 2007 – December 2008 – part time, with possible extension until April 2009.

Remuneration:
Competitive rates per output pages.
