European Union Twinning Project “Strengthening the capacities of the Parliament of Moldova for EU approximation process” [MD 13 ENPI OT 02 17 (MD/28)] is seeking to recruit Project Interpreter/Translator.
Requirements for the Project Interpreter/Translator:
• University degree (preferably in English philology, law, political science or public administration);
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English;
• Experience in legal issues translation and interpretation;
• Excellent administering and organisational skills;
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team;
• Willingness and flexibility to work overtime when necessary;
• Good computer skills, including MS applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point).
Please note that the Twinning Manual foresees that the chosen assistant has not been a civil servant or agent of the beneficiary institution (Parliament of Moldova) in the past 6 months calculated at the moment of the start of the project nor is on leave from the beneficiary institution to take up the position.
The following skills will be considered as an asset for RTA assistant:
• Experience in translation and interpretation related to parliamentary procedures and practice;
• Experience in EU funded projects;
• Knowledge of parliamentary work, legislative process and approximation of law;
• Knowledge of EU policies and institutions;
• Strong sense of initiative and responsibility.
Job description:
Project Translator/Interpreter will report directly and will be supervised by the Resident Twinning Adviser – RTA (Head of the Project Office). Under the guidance of the RTA, the Project Interpreter/Translator is expected to carry out the following duties, among others:
• Act as principal interpreter and translator of the Twinning Project;
• Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation from and to English during meetings, seminars, workshops and other project events;
• Provide translations from and to English of all project documents and reports, legal acts and selected parliamentary working documents;
• Act as proof-reader of texts translated by other translators;
• Assist the RTA, Project Leaders, and the short-term experts in any tasks related to language issues;
• If needed, carry out administrative tasks to support the RTA Assistant.
Maximum contract duration: 24 months
Indicative starting date: 1 October 2017

Selected candidates will be invited for a written test and personal interview in Chisinau, expected to be scheduled on the week of 18 September 2017.
