MONITORING JOURNALIST

BBC Monitoring is part of the British Broadcasting Corporation. It monitors open-source foreign media from over 150 countries throughout the world in more than 70 languages. We provide news and information to the BBC, government and commercial customers. BBC Monitoring has a central office in the UK and international offices all over the world.

You will work in Chisinau on an initial one-year contract and will monitor and select news reports from local TV, press and Internet. You will translate, edit and write copy accurately and quickly using clear idiomatic English and in line with BBC requirements. At times you will be working independently, at others as part of a team. Shift work - including late evenings and weekends - is an essential feature of the job.

You will have an excellent knowledge of local and international affairs, especially in relation to Moldova, Russia, and Romania. You will have excellent English, Russian and Romanian. Journalistic experience and knowledge of other languages would be an advantage. Good typing and IT skills are also required.
