JAVA PROGRAMMER (1000$ - 1500$)

SolveIT Software is seeking a competent and experienced individual to take up a role as a Java programmer in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. The position will allow the candidate to create software applications to address challenging real-world business and industrial problems.

The candidate will need to be able to work as part of a team under the leadership of a project manager, to execute software implementation projects. Duties would include, but are not limited to:

- Effectively and efficiently carry out defined programming tasks in Java.
- Give time estimates for proposed programming tasks.
- Devise solution approaches by analytical thinking.
- GUI programming.
- DB interaction programming.
- Problem solving and development of basic algorithms to solve problems.

The successful candidate must be focused and disciplined and have a strong work ethic. They must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment, in which continual improvement is expected of everyone. Towards this end they would be expected to participate in periodic code reviews, and actively participate in company meetings and workshops aimed at analysing and improving the way things are done.

In addition to standard key performance indicators, the successful candidate will be appraised on how well they fit in with the goals and objectives of the company and how well they assist with achieving those.

Qualifications/requirements:

The following are mandatory criteria, and applicants are asked to address them all, explicitly in their application.

Bachelors in Computer Science or Information Technology.
Proficiency and experience in Java Programming.
Knowledge of, and programming experience with Java Swing.
Knowledge of, and programming experience with using JDBC to perform database operations from a Java application.

Technical Evaluation:

In addition to an interview, as part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to participate in a two-part technical evaluation focusing on the following points:

Assessment of the candidate's problem solving skills.
Assessment of the candidate's Java programming skills.
