Java developer (Code: JD_0903)

Mandatory Skills:

• Awareness of current technology appropriate to systems development, mobile portals, internet and mobile telephony.
• Technical mastery of front-end technologies:
- Strong experience with front end development soft skills - eg, HTML, CSS, XHTML,
- Good experience with front end harder skills - eg, Javascript (AJAX) and JSP, XSLT
- At least two years Java in a Web environment (eg, Servlets)
- Some exposure to Java-based web platforms such as Spring, Freemarker, Velocity etc;
• Previous development and design experience within mobile devices, especially rendering, and mobile browsers ;
• Understanding and use of patterns in design;
• General systems integration experience;
• Knowledge of XML, XSD etc.;
• Experience of large scale development and maintenance projects containing formal test cycles, with multiple parallel releases;
• CVS experience;

Desirable Skills:

• Understanding of database technologies (Oracle, MySQL);
• Unix/LINUX experience;
• Design of high availability internet applications & portals;
• Experience in Java/J2EE/EJB;
• One of the following: WebLogic/JBOSS;
• Web Services experience, SOAP, REST, toolkits etc.;
• Previous experience of widgets (e.g. RSS integration, email integration/API experience);
• Exposure to the following – Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, Eclipse, CVS, Spring, Hibernate.
