DATABASE ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Database Engineer is an integral part of our engineering team, helping to the development of our innovative software products. The successful candidate will focus on learning the existing systems, and will participate to extend it as the business grows. The successful candidate must have knowledge and some experience working with relational databases primarily SQL Server and Oracle. Knowledge of DB2 and Java is a plus.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyze, implement and test B2B information systems, Oracle and SQL-based RDBMS.
Maintain and support current system and ongoing beta programs
Participate in implementation of next generation systems based on our technology
Provide hands-on development and maintenance of software applications.
Implement best practices for software code development, re-use, and componentization
Contribute to the growth and evolution of the company

REQUIRED SKILL SET

BA/BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required;
1-2 years experience developing commercial software in a structured setting.
Commercial hands-on software development; preferably through several complete development cycles from specifications to software delivery.
Experience with query tuning and development of stored procedures for data migration and data marts.
Knowledge of DB administration.
Must be able to adapt to changing needs of the business
Experience with Hibernate is a plus.
Experience working with a large DB is a plus.
Must have an understanding of the software development life cycle, familiarity or experience with Agile Development practices is a plus.
Knowledge of reporting and Business Objects is a plus.
