Job Title: Country Manager Moldova
Seconded to: Hospice Angelus, Chisinau
Location: Chisinau, Moldova
Responsible to: Deputy Director
Accountable to: Executive Director
Summary: To assist with the development of palliative care in Moldova by helping to secure the necessary funds to run the services provided by Hospice Angelus and to develop services to meet the needs of terminally ill patients and their families in Chisinau. To provide leadership and management to the Hospice Angelus Fundraising Team and to advise on other management issues. To report back weekly to the UK office together with the CEO.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Fluency in English
- Good knowledge of Romanian and/or Russian
- A knowledge of the NGO sector
- Line management experience
- Fundraising or sales experience
- The ability to plan strategically for upcoming events and pitches
- Exceptional interpersonal, face-to-face and negotiating skills and experience
- Outstanding organisational and communication skills
- Understanding of budget control
- PC skills including a working knowledge of MS Office especially Excel, Powerpoint and Word
Management:
- To provide leadership to the Hospice Angelus Team in the areas of fundraising, PR, and development
- To provide pastoral leadership to the team as possible
- Mentoring non-medical members of staff to increase efficiency and knowledge with a view to increasing the chances of self-sustainability.
- Ensuring that grant income as spent appropriately
Fundraising:
- To network with local businesses in order to gain company sponsorship and support - building on current contacts
- To make contacts with local churches in order to encourage financial and volunteer support
- To establish links with the Diplomatic Community in Chisinau, contacts with AID agencies and other NGO’s supporting Moldova, and explore possibilities for co-operation
- To line-manage the Fundraising staff and be responsible for the instigation and supervision of events.
- To help identify opportunities to apply for grants from European and US sources and assisting with applications
Financial:
- Participating in the annual budget setting process
- Review the monthly financial reports and ensure that any anomalies are reported immediately to Deputy Director
Other:
- Liaising with Hospices of Hope to strengthen partnership with Hospice Angelus and the palliative care movement in Moldova
- Working with the Council of Hospice Angelus to ensure that the policies of Hospice Angelus are worked out in practice
