BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Serves as driver for the Embassy’s motor pool, driving official vehicles for the officers, other employees, and official visitors. Performs messenger and delivery work, including the pick-up and delivery of parcels and newspapers.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Completion of secondary school is required.
2. Minimum 2 years of chauffeur experience is required.
3. Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading English is required. This will be tested. Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading Romanian and Russian is required. (Please indicate in the Application form/resume the level of knowledge of all three languages)
4. Knowledge of local and international routes required. Knowledge of locations of businesses, school, government offices, etc., in Chisinau and in other parts of the country required. Knowledge of basic automotive mechanics is required (to be able to note and describe irregularities to mechanic, and address emergency situation such as a flat tire).
5. Must possess a valid "B" and "C" class driver’s license. Must have good driving skills in winter and summer conditions
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that all candidates address the required qualifications above in the application.
The Embassy will give all applicants full consideration. Applicants should be aware that having a close relative working at the Embassy in any capacity that could create a conflict of interest would be considered a disqualifying factor.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and visa status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees of the extended Mission serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed Not-Ordinarily Residents (NOR) hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
