Middle PHP Engineer (Mobile Backend) | Chisinau | Onsite

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using PHP
• Build and support backend functionality for mobile applications, including APIs and integrations.
• Develop and maintain compliance-related systems, including KYC/AML workflows, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, and audit logs.
• Integrate with third-party services (KYC providers, payment systems, banks) via REST APIs and webhooks.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment and production support.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and compliance teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to code reviews, refactoring, bug fixing, and continuous improvement of code quality.
• Support and gradually modernize legacy PHP services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and testing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend development.
• Strong experience with PHP (Laravel or similar framework).
  Working experience with Node.js, ideally with NestJS or a similar structured framework. Strong willingness and ability to grow into NestJS quickly is acceptable in place of deep prior experience.
• Good understanding of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience integrating third-party services.
• Understanding of Git, CI/CD, testing, and Agile development practices.
• English level B2–C1 (comfortable communicating with international teams).
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Experience using AI tools to support software development.
